Coast to Coast - Seascale to Whitby

Itinerary

Day 1

Stay overnight at our accomodation in Gosforth and enjoy breakfast and fuel your ride.

Day 2

Steady warm up ride to the start line at Seascale. Dip your wheel in the Irish Sea to mark the start of your 161 mile adventure. Ride east into The Lake District, over the challenging Hardknott and Wrynose Pass. Let your legs recover through Ambleside and Windermere and reward yourself with a cafe stop in Kendal after 40 miles. Full of coffee and cake launch up The Greyhound climb to Sedbergh before tapping out a tempo up the climb to Garsdale and the end of 61 miles and over 6000ft of climbing. If you have anything left in your legs indulge yourself in the Velo.cartel Hill Climb Challenge up the precipitous Coal Road. It's horrible!

Day 3

Breakfast at our accomodation followed by a good stretch because it's straight into the climbing! Float like a butterfly up Col de Buttertubs (as ridden in the grand depart of the Tour de France 2014) before enjoying the exhilarating descent into Reeth. The road heads skywards again at the foot of Cote de Grinton Moor before leaving The Dales en route to The North Yorkshire Moors. The 11% ramps of Crag Bank and Sandhill Bank are your post-lunch offerings and the little mech-snapper of the 16% Limber Hill, peaking at 35% should qualify you for your fish and chips at the Whitby Whale Bones that mark the end of your 100 mile/7000ft ride.

Stay overnight in our Whitby accomodation and celebrate your achievement.
